SELLER’S HINTS
TIPS TO HELP PREPARE YOUR HOME FOR SALE
The value of your home is determined by what a buyer is willing to pay in today’s market, along with what an appraiser determines is fair market value. In order for the seller to maximize the value of the home, I’ve put together a few useful tips to prepare your home for sale.
- Make sure gardening and landscaping are up-to-date…driveways and sidewalks are edged, lawn moved, etc.
- Paint any necessary areas…check gutters and trims, including doors.
- Paint or touch up rooms inside as needed only.
- Wash windows and replace torn screens, check window shutters.
- Professionally steam clean carpets and check for leaking faucets and slow drains.
- Unclutter the home, to include the kitchen and bathrooms.
- If you have made improvements to your home, made a list showing what and when it was done to your home. The Buyer’s will like to look at the list and it will be very helpful for an appraiser to know.
It is usually best to be away when a Realtor is showing your home. Allow the agent to move about the house freely with the prospective Buyer.
Nancy, thanks for all your help when I bought my condo and the great tips. You’re the best! Professional with a capital “P”!!
